Deion Sanders shocked Mount Rushmore wasn't in California, invited to visit by South Dakota's Governor

In this story:
Deion Sanders will go down in history as a Hall-of-Famer in many regards, but geography isn't one of them. The Colorado Buffaloes coach had a gaffe while going on a rant and thought one of America's iconic landmarks was stationed in Los Angeles.
Coach Prime asked reporters during Tuesday's press conference what the "four heads were called in California," which a few in the room replied by saying Mount Rushmore and then corrected him on the location. Sanders was left stunned by not knowing in a hilarious exchange.
"Wow, my geography," Sanders said as he laughed it off. "That's the Hollywood Sign? That's what I thought, sorry. Thank you for educating me."
Sanders' embarrassing moment finally reached South Dakota on Wednesday afternoon with Gov. Kristi Noem sending an invited to Coach Prime and the Buffs to come visit. It won't be LA, but it is a home where the buffalo roam.
If @DeionSanders needs to see Mount Rushmore, we’d love to show him. Bring the whole @CUBuffsFootball team — we have buffalo herds of our own just a short ways away! Bring Ralphie, he’ll love Custer State Park. https://t.co/zlF7U8eGa2

"If Deion Sanders needs to see Mount Rushmore, we'd love to show him," Noem tweeted. "Bring the whole Colorado team — we have buffalo herds of our own just a short ways away! Bring Ralphie, (s)he'll love Custer State Park."
Colorado will welcome one of the top teams from the Dakotas into Folsom Field in 2024. The North Dakota State Bison will open the season with the Buffs on Aug. 31.
It's a bittersweet end with CU's final Pac-12 game on Saturday at Utah. They'll move on to the the Big 12 next year with a different outlook going into Sanders second year in Boulder.
