Deion Sanders urges team and fans to ‘believe in the impossible’

Coach Prime is calling on all CU players and fans to put aside any doubts

Expectations for a football team are always changing. One surprise win or one bad loss can completely alter the trajectory of a season.

No college football team in recent memory has been under as much scrutiny as the 2023 Colorado Buffaloes. This squad has had television personalities and national columnists going to great lengths to disparage the head coach and players.

Along the way, the Buffs have also been the recipients of a groundswell of support. Tickets are sold out everywhere. Merchandise sales are off the charts. School and team social media accounts have exponentially increased in followers. While there’s been an uptick in detractors, supporters continue to appear in droves.

With all the added exposure, a loss like the one on Friday becomes magnified. 

Sure, blowing a 29-0 lead is pretty bad. There’s no easy way to explain that one. On the very same weekend, Houston and West Virginia each threw back-to-back Hail Mary passes, Idaho State came back from 27 points in the final minutes of the third quarter. The point is that in college football, the unimaginable often occurs. The only constant is craziness. It’s the chaos that makes the sport so magical.

This team is two wins away from making a bowl game. It would be a tremendous accomplishment considering where they were one year ago. 

This will only happen if the players believe they can win ALL of the games the rest of the way. 

Stanford never stopped believing despite trailing by more than four touchdowns. While painful, there are valuable takeaways from going through such a traumatic experience. The biggest one is that the game is never over until it’s actually over. As long as there’s belief, there’s a chance.
