Buffs in the NFL: Isaiah Oliver will experience first Super Bowl with San Francisco 49ers

In this story:
Colorado will be represented by Isaiah Oliver in Super Bowl XVIII. The San Francisco 49ers defensive back earned his first career NFC championship in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions. In two weeks, he'll try to become the 36th Buffaloes alum to win on the world's biggest stage.
Oliver signed with the Niners last offseason and has contributed in all 17 games this year. He has six starts with 47 percent of the defensive snaps in a stacked secondary. The former Brophy Prep was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Since then, Oliver has racked up 270 tackles with 36 PDUs, 3 INTs, and two sacks in 79 career games.
Colorado hasn't added a new Super Bowl champion as a player in eight years. Washington's assistant head coach, Eric Bieniemy, won his second title as offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in last year's Super Bowl.
San Francisco will face Kansas City in a rematch of Super Bowl LIV. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs beat Lamar Jackson and Ravens on the road in Baltimore for a 17-10 victory on Sunday. This marks the third Super Bowl appearance in four years for Andy Reid's team. The future Hall of Fame coach also ties Cowboys great Tom Landry with five career appearances.
Super Bowl LVIII will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Eight-time Grammy Award-winning recording artist Usher will preform the Apple Music halftime show
