Deion Sanders has an unconventional way of coaching, and others are starting to take notice, including one of his former Cowboys teammates. While on an appearance Tuesday with The Ticket in Dallas, USFL president Daryl Johnston said Sanders is taking his own path, and that means his way of leading the Buffs in shocking ways.

“(Prime) had gone around and he told every offensive and defensive coach that they were gonna get up in front of the team, at the team meeting, and tell the team why they were gonna win the game tomorrow,” Johnston said.

This is rare by calling attention to his staff, but not off-brand for Sanders, who's truly sticking to a whole team environment. It worked to perfection with all of Prime's assistants digging in to motivate the entire roster.

“It was something like I’ve never seen before. It was a non-traditional team meeting,” said Johnston. “I was ready to go play after everybody was done.”

Johnston believes in what Sanders is doing at Colorado. He thinks Coach Prime will finish the year by exceeding expectations of a majority of the national media.

“I tell you what, there’s something unique about this group right now,” Johnston said. "To watch them go out and execute the way that they did was unbelievable.”

Johnston and Sanders spent five seasons in Dallas during the peak of Jerry Jones' tenure as the NFL's most famed owner. They won two Super Bowls together in the mid-90s before Deion left for Washington in 2000. Both have spent time in the broadcast world covering the NFL, with Johnston at FOX Sports for a stint and Sanders over at the NFL Network.

No. 22 Colorado faces Nebraska Saturday for the Buffs home opener at Folsom Field. The FOX Big Noon Saturday feature will showcase a record crowd for the former Big Eight Rivalry.
