The Colorado Buffaloes are starting to turn another corner ahead of the 2024 football season. From a program that lacked a winning culture to Coach Prime and his staff starting to build a competitor amongst the national powerhouses. It's not where they want to be, but the pieces are being put in place for better results.

Deion Sanders recapped his first year at Colorado with FOX Sports' Undisputed on Tuesday. He explained to Skip Bayless and Keyshawn Johnson how difficult the process was when he arrived in Boulder and how the massive turnover was needed.

"The roster was so horrendous we had to flip it," Sanders said. "We inherited some bull junk. So, we flipped it. Now we really have what we need, not just bodies walking around aimlessly."

Some people have a difficult time understanding why Sanders flipped the roster, but the numbers don't lie. Colorado brought in 75 players via the transfer portal over the past 13 months, according to 247Sports. It was a much-needed upgrade with 70 players leaving for other schools and only four who were ranked as four-star recruits. That's compared to the 15 top-level players Coach Prime gained over the past year. A near 4-to-1 ratio isn't a bad return.

Sanders also gave an update on the defensive coordinator search at Colorado. He said a hire will be made in the coming day and someone who has NFL experience.

"We had to allow those pro guys to get all those interviews out. Now, we have identified a few of them because I want a pro guy who can teach and instruct at another level. That's what we have on the offense. That's what we pretty much have on the whole darn staff is guys that have taught and played the pro game. Because that's where (our players) are headed."

Colorado's 2024 football schedule was released on Tuesday. The Buffaloes open Big 12 play at Folsom Field with Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 21.
