Deion Sanders says, "We have the best quarterback in the country," but he's taking a beating

Coach Prime wasn't happy with the outcome and vows to fix the Buffs offensive line

In this story:

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders applauded Shedeur Sanders for his efforts in the 28-16 loss to No. 23 UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night. A brutal showing for CU's offensive line after the bye week. Coach Prime's son took multiple hits and had a noticeable limp when the game clock expired.

Sanders was appreciative in his postgame press conference and gave his son a great compliment. "I'm a little biased because I'm his father, but I think we have the best quarterback in the country," Coach Prime said of Shedeur. "I don't think any other quarterback could put up with having to stand and deliver like he has to every week in, week out, taking a beating."

Sanders told the media that his son received an injection at halftime to "block" the pain. He stopped short of saying what kind of drug was used, but said he was hurting all over and would have a few days off. However, Sanders said Shedeur wasn't injured but just "banged up" in the game.

Colorado still needs two wins in the final month to secure bowl eligibility. It will be a tough task for Sanders and the Buffs, but not out of the question with some adjustments. No. 16 Oregon State is next up for a meeting this Saturday at Folsom Field. The front-end of a two game homestand with Arizona the following week on Nov. 11.
