Brewster came to Boulder with Coach Prime from Jackson State. The veteran coach has a mix of experience in the NFL and college over the past four decades. He grew as a product of Mack Brown's coaching tree in the late 90's and then had stints with the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers, before taking over as head coach at Minnesota from 2007-10.
Sanders leaned on Brewster as one of the more experienced coaches on his staff. He eventually took him off his staff to bring on co-offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur midway through the season. A move that didn't spark much of a change with Sean Lewis losing play-calling duties.
Colorado finished the season with a six-game losing streak after starting 3-0 in non-conference play. The Buffs had eight game decided by seven points or less in Sanders' first year in Boulder.
The resignation by Brewster will likely allow Sanders to bring on Hall-of-Famer Warren Sapp to his staff in 2024.
