Duke basketball: One name to watch in transfer portal

Grad transfer Chris Ledlum looks to be worthy of Duke basketball attention.

First-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer landed a graduate transfer from Harvard last year in forward Kale Catchings. Now, consider that this year's transfer portal already includes a formidable Crimson forward in Chris Ledlum, arguably the top transfer up for grabs thus far.

As ESPN's Jeff Borzello tweeted, "High-majors have had his name circled all season."

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound bruiser entered the portal on Tuesday morning now that Harvard's season is in the books.

And chances are that Scheyer and his crew will look at the transfer portal for potentially a few proven talents to complement their five-deep cast of five-star 2023 recruits and whichever current Blue Devils decide to return to Durham.

Ledlum seems to fit the bill. He led the Crimson (14-14, 5-9 Ivy League) with 18.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. That's not to mention his averages of 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks.

Across three seasons playing for Duke basketball alum Tommy Amaker — the Crimson did not have a season in 2020-21 — Chris Ledlum racked up 70 games of experience and was a full-time starter the past two years.

Reports of schools reaching out to Ledlum, a former four-star prep out of Brooklyn who entered college after finishing No. 96 overall on the 247Sports 2019 Composite, should start trickling in soon.

Again, his name has been in the portal for only a matter of hours.
