Welcome to Duke: Morning roundup for 8/30/2019

It's almost game time, and there were several college-football pageantry-related announcements on Thursday.

Duke will wear all white for the game, the first time they've done that since their last game against a CFB Playoff participant: Clemson, last November.

Jets receiver and record-breaking Blue Devil Jamison Crowder will be Duke's honorary captain and participate in the coin toss.

Crowder had the night off in the Jets' final preseason contest on Thursday, joining six other NFL Blue Devils on the bench as teams rested their starters. Seven former Duke players were in action, including Daniel Jones.

In basketball news, Jayson Tatum and Mason Plumlee are in China, preparing to play in the FIBA World Cup, which starts this weekend.

Elsewhere, Saturday Down South made a case for Duke covering the spread on Saturday.

Jim Sumner looked back at Duke's win over 'Bama in the 1945 Sugar Bowl. Jim also talked to Alabama's SB Nation site about Saturday's game.

Four-star power forward Henry Coleman will be making his official visit to Duke this weekend. The Blue Devils are the first team in his top five (which also includes Michigan, N.C. State, Ohio State and Virginia Tech) to get an official visit. He has not yet scheduled any others.
