Paul VI Catholic (Va.) center Patrick Ngongba II, teammate to 2024 Duke basketball commit Darren Harris, looks to be less than two weeks away from taking the next step in his recruitment.

"I'm probably going to cut my list down at the end of June," the 6-foot-11, 235-pound four-star, who rose to No. 48 on the 247Sports 2024 Composite after displaying impressive agility and versatility in Nike EYBL action, told 247Sports' Dushawn London. "I haven't made any decisions on which specific schools will make it, but I will soon."

Duke's offer to Ngongba is only a few weeks old. However, the Blue Devils have since hosted him for an official visit. And it sounds like he genuinely enjoyed the trip.

"The visit was good," he noted to London. "I liked it a lot. It was very different than all my other ones."

Yes, it'd be unexpected at this point if Jon Scheyer and his staff suddenly got the boot. After all, in the past four years alone, the Blue Devils have landed three Paul VI Catholic products in Harris, rising Duke senior Jeremy Roach, and New York Knicks two-way player Trevor Keels.

Furthermore, Ngongba is the only big man on Duke basketball's reported 2024 wishlist. That said, the top-ranked center, Kokomo (Ind.) five-star Flory Bidunga, recently scheduled an official visit with the Blue Devils for next week despite not reporting an offer.

Patrick Ngongba II's offer sheet is roughly two-dozen deep. It includes three other ACC schools in Notre Dame, Pitt, and Virginia.

While he hasn't said when he'll announce a final decision, one could view the upcoming list cut and recent visits — he took one to reigning national champion UConn earlier this week — as signs that an end to the race is just around the corner.
