The Florida State Seminoles are knee deep in spring camp with six practices and two scrimmages remaining ahead of summer workouts leading into fall camp.

With a mixture of both veteran returnees and newcomers, players across the roster continue a heavy competition for spots on the depth chart. However, one name that has continued to come up this offseason is a true freshman legacy from Atlanta, Georgia.

Devin Carter Turns Heads With Highlight-Reel Catch

Freshman wide receiver Devin Carter may have delivered one of the best catches of spring camp so far. During practice this week, the young pass-catcher showed off his hands and body control with an impressive grab that quickly stood out as one of Tuesday's top highlights.

In the video, quarterback Ashton Daniels found Carter crossing the secondary with Notre Dame transfer defensive back Carson Hobbs in tow. The 6'11'', 177-pound former three-star recruit showed off his ball skills by extending his body and securing the catch, marking yet another flash of his potential.

“Devin has come in, and his maturity and the ability — he can run. I mean, I’ve seen him for the last four years really growing up, and so there was nothing that he’s doing that’s really shocking me," head coach Mike Norvell said after FSU's first scrimmage. "He’s continuing to grow and get stronger with each day, but the mental part of the game, he embraces that understanding.”

Carter was rated as the No. 41 player at his position in the country last cycle and had 26 receptions for 431 yards and five touchdowns as a senior at Douglas County. His father, Dexter Carter, is a Florida State All-American and first-round NFL Draft pick, who played seven seasons in the NFL and won Super Bowl XXIX with the San Francisco 49ers

Florida State is expected to field both first-team All-ACC wide receiver Duce Robinson and breakout star Michai Danzy this season, with promising standout receiver Jayvan Boggs in the mix. With the Seminoles continuing to evaluate a crowded receiver room this spring, moments like that are the kind that can help a freshman start building momentum early.
