Five Former FSU Football Stars Drafted To The United Football League

The Florida State quintet accounted for over 150 games played for the Seminoles.

Five former Florida State football players were chosen during phase 1 of the United Football League Dispersal Draft. The UFL is a spring football league that resulted in a merger between the XFL and the USFL.

Former FSU players selected include offensive lineman Jazston Turnetine, defensive lineman Marvin Wilson, quarterback Deondre Francois, linebacker Reggie Northrup, and cornerback Levonta Taylor.

The five former Seminoles combined for over 150 games played for Florida State.

In a tragic but inspiring moment, Turentine was carted off the field after suffering a lower-body injury during the final offensive drive of the 2022 season.

The Florida State squad in its entirety went over to the cart to support him after he played his last collegiate snap in the Cheez-It Bowl. The ’Noles emerged victorious, 35-32 over the Oklahoma Sooners.

Marvin Wilson had a two-year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played in two games in his career and accounted for seven total tackles.

Deondre Francois played for the Orlando Guardians of the XFL in 2023. He played four games and threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns alongside three interceptions.

Reggie Northrup has been somewhat of a professional sports journeyman. The Jacksonville native was added to the Los Angeles Rams practice squad in December of 2016 and was activated in February of 2017. He was then released by the team in June.

In 2020, Northrup turned to combat sports. He boasts a 7-0 record including his latest win in a bare-knuckle bout in a unanimous decision in September.

Finally, Levonta Taylor played for the Michigan Panthers in the USFL. He recorded 40 tackles.

The Seminole quintet will look to make a name for themselves in the newly unveiled UFL.
