In their second home game of the season and the beginning of a three-game homestand, the No. 4 Florida State Seminoles were able to hold off the Virginia Tech Hokies with a final score of 39-17. With the win, the Seminoles are 5-0 for the first time since 2015, and extend their win streak to 11 games over two seasons.

While the Hokies controlled the second quarter, running back Trey Benson stole the show with his breakout game of the season, putting up 200 yards on 11 carries, which is the most rushing yards by a Seminole since former star Dalvin Cook in 2016. Additionally, he accounted for two of Florida State’s five touchdowns. Wide receiver Johnny Wilson had two touchdown receptions from quarterback Jordan Travis and running back Lawrance Toafili ran for his first touchdown of the season.

While penalties haunted the Seminoles beginning in the second quarter and throughout the game after being flagged 12 times for 99 yards, FSU was able to stick to the game plan and rely on countless explosive plays.

With the best start to the season in eight years and many improvements for the Seminoles in this game, many Seminole fans hope to relive the experiences they had ten and 30 years ago when those Seminole teams saw Heisman Trophies lifted and National Champions crowned in Tallahassee.
