FSU Football Running Back To Remain With Program For Senior Season

The Seminoles will be bringing back one of their most experienced running backs in 2024.

With the season firmly in the rearview, Florida State has turned its focus to retaining players and adding talent for 2024. Over the last week, multiple Seminoles have announced that they'll be back in Tallahassee for another year.

That continued on Monday morning with the news that redshirt senior running back Caziah Holmes plans to stick with Florida State for his final season of collegiate eligibility, through an announcement with The Battle's End. He recorded 29 carries for 185 yards and two scores while catching five passes for 58 yards and two scores for the Seminoles last year in a backfield that included Trey Benson, Lawrance Toafili, and Rodney Hill.

Holmes rushed for a season-high 63 and a touchdown on four carries during Florida State's win over Southern Miss in the home opener. He scored a pair of touchdowns in the home finale against North Alabama.

With Benson and Hill moving on for separate reasons, Florida State will rely on Holmes to step into a larger role alongside Toafili. He'll be one of the most experienced options in a room that includes junior Jaylin Lucas, redshirt freshman Samuel Singleton, true freshman Kam Davis, and true freshman Micahi Danzy.

Holmes has spent the last two years at Florida State after beginning his college career at Penn State. During his season with the Nittany Lions, he recorded 51 carries for 227 yards and two touchdowns. He totaled 56 attempts for 254 yards and a pair of scores with the program.

Outside of Holmes, running back Lawrance Toafili, wide receiver Destyn Hill, offensive lineman Robert Scott, offensive lineman Darius Washington, offensive lineman Maurice Smith, offensive lineman Keiondre Jones, offensive lineman Jeremiah Byers, defensive end Patrick Payton, defensive end Byron Turner Jr, safety Shyheim Brown, punter Alex Mastromanno, and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald have all announced they'll return to Florida State since December.
