No. 4 Florida State (10-0, 8-0 ACC) is having a remarkable season, winning the conference outright, and has become a strong contender to make the College Football Playoffs. Last weekend's win against the Miami Hurricanes (6-4, 2-4 ACC) sealed the Seminoles' back to back ten win seasons and put the icing on the state of Florida with hopefully a cherry on top when they face the Florida Gators (5-5, 3-4 SEC) in two weeks.

What has been on nearly every FSU fan's mind over the past few days is the 2024 coaching carousel and, more specifically, the vacancy left by Texas A&M's recent firing of head coach Jimbo Fisher. TAMU initially hired Fisher away from Florida State and sent the Seminoles into a tailspin before being built back up by head coach Mike Norvell.

Norvell met with the media on Monday to discuss last week's win and cleared the air of rumors about the Aggies knocking on his door.

"There's not really any point to talk about it in a sense. It's funny how sometimes those things get out there, and people want to try and use that, especially in recruiting and things like that," Norvell said. "I told recruits two years ago, a lot of those guys were recruiting now."

Florida State currently has the No. 3 recruiting class in the country and has positioned itself in years past to reload in 2024. With a plethora of blue-chip recruits coming in, there is no shortage of what other teams will do or say to throw a wrench in the mix.

"It's funny because two years ago, every coach was talking about 'well, how long is he going to be there? They better win some games, or he's not,' but I told them then, 'Watch, two years, everybody is going to be trying to use the other thing.'"

Although he did not mention Texas A&M by name, Norvell gave a blanket statement on where he stands with the Seminoles.

"I can't control any of that. Obviously, we're so excited about what we're building, where we're going, the opportunity that's ahead," Norvell said. "This is a special place, and I think that speaks for itself. I'm grateful for the opportunity, but I can't control all those things."

The focus remains on the rest of the season as the Seminoles are set to take on the North Alabama Lions for their last home game of 2023.
