FSU Football Produces Two First-Round Picks In CBS Sports' Latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft

Could the Seminoles produce two first-round picks later this month?

The 2024 NFL Draft is closing in and there are going to be a lot of people from Tallahassee tuning in to watch the festivities.

Florida State has only produced two selections over the past two drafts but that is expected to change in a big way later this month. In fact, the Seminoles could very well be chasing a program record.

In a recent mock published by CBS Sports, Florida State is projected to produce ten picks, including two first-round selections. The Seminoles have only had 10+ players selected in three drafts.

To no surprise, former star defensive end Jared Verse is expected to be one of the top prospects selected. He slides off the board to the Los Angeles Rams at No. 19, the second edge behind Alabama's Dallas Turner.

Verse recorded 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. He showed out at the combine with a 4.58 40-yard dash and 31 bench press reps of 225 pounds.

"Jared Verse is a high-floor, ready-to-go rusher who'll formulate a fun outside pass-rushing duo with Byron Young in Los Angeles."

In what may open some eyes, the mock also has former standout defensive tackle Braden Fiske sneaking into the opening round at No. 30 to the Baltimore Ravens. Fiske is a fast-rising after his performance at the Senior Bowl and combine.

During his lone season at Florida State, Fiske recorded 43 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and six sacks. He was named second-team All-ACC and a third-team All-American by the Associated Press and Phil Steele.

"Braden Fiske is simply too athletic and was too productive in the ACC for the Ravens to pass on him here."

Outside of Verse and Fiske, Trey Benson (Cleveland Browns, No. 54), Renardo Green (Houston Texans, No. 86), Keon Coleman (Buffalo Bills, No. 101), Fabien Lovett (Jacksonville Jaguars, No. 116), Jarrian Jones (Houston Texans, No. 127), Jaheim Bell (Atlanta Falcons, No. 143), Johnny Wilson (Kansas City Chiefs, No. 173), and Jordan Travis (Pittsburgh Steelers, No. 195) were all included in the mock draft.

The 2024 NFL Draft begins on April 25 live from Detroit.
