Seminoles are "up there" for three-star LB Jeremiah Marcelin

FSU is making Marcelin a priority on its recruiting board.

Florida State's final Junior Day of January was filled with talent over multiple classes. Early in the recruiting cycle, the Seminoles are beginning to expand the board at linebacker. One of the top names to know so far is rising senior and three-star prospect, Jeremiah Marcelin.

Joined by a group of prospects from south Florida, Marcelin was back in Tallahassee on Saturday. The trip marked the first time that he had really gotten a look at the campus.

“It was good, first time seeing the campus," Marcelin said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis. "I came here for a 7-on-7 camp but actually seeing this campus, just seeing the different layout, how Tallahassee looks, it was real nice.

The Florida native spent ample time around the Seminoles' coaching staff. He likes how they keep it straight and to the point with their approach.

"It was real simple. The coaches, they don't complicate things. They're real different from a lot of coaches. They're just gonna get straight to the point about it and tell you what they're gonna do to help you."

Marcelin spent some personal time with linebackers coach Randy Shannon, who escorted him around campus. Shannon actually hails from the same school as Marcelin - Miami Norland High School.

"He's a fun guy to hang around," Marcelin said. "He's gonna like to break you in a little bit before you start having fun. He's a cool guy to hang around, he just wants the best for you."

"I like it a lot that he's showing me that he really wants me," Marcelin continued. "He came from Norland, he's got a lot of ties to my school, my coaches, so I know I'll be in good hands with him if I go there."

Prior to the end of his visit, he met with head coach Mike Norvell. His energy and message both clicked with Marcelin.

"His message was that if we come to FSU, we're gonna work," Marcelin said. "That's one thing that I love about what he said. He didn't try to sugarcoat nothing for us, if you come to FSU you're going to work and I love working. That's what it is."

"He's a real cool guy too," Marcelin continued. "He has a lot of energy which is something I like. I feed off energy so that's the biggest thing about him."

During the recruiting process, Marcelin is mainly looking for relationships and the environment at the program he chooses. The Seminoles sit in a good spot for him at this point in time.

“They up there. They up there. They’ve been up there,” Marcelin said. “Coach Shannon is a real good guy. But, I mean taking visits like this solidifies things.”

Outside of FSU, other programs standing out include Cincinnati, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Miami. Marcelin plans to return to Tallahassee in the spring or summer.

At this time, he has no clear timeline for a decision but noted, "when the time comes, everyone knows where I'm gonna go."

The 6-foot-2, 218-pound linebacker is regarded as the No. 468 overall prospect, the No. 32 EDGE, and the No. 74 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class.
