Jalen DeLoach Announces Intentions to Transfer from Georgia Basketball

Georgia basketball junior forward Jalen DeLoach has announced his intentions to transfer after one season with the Bulldogs.

Georgia basketball has encountered its first transfer portal departure of the offseason. Junior forward Jalen DeLoach has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal after one season at the University of Georgia, per ON3.

DeLoach started his career at VCU for two seasons and then elected to transfer to Georgia last year. The Savannah, Georgia native played in 32 total games for the Bulldogs while also starting in six. He averaged 3.6 points per game, 4.7 rebounds and shot 53.5 percent from the field.

During Mike White’s second season as head coach at Georgia, the Bulldogs managed to make a deep run in the NIT tournament as they made it to the final four round before being eliminated by the eventual champions, Seton Hall. The program finished with a final record of 20-17 which was the first 20-win season for the Bulldogs since 2015.

Georgia looks to be headed in the right direction with five-star prospect Asa Newell joining the roster from the 2024 recruiting class, but they will need to survive a massive roster exodus via the transfer portal to help maintain its upward trajectory. While DeLoach may not be the only player that will enter the portal, it can also be expected that Coach White will also snag a couple of players of his own from the portal to add to his roster for the 2024-2025 season.
