Georgia's Offensive MVP From the 2023 Season

There are many names to consider for the offensive MVP award in the Georgia Bulldogs 2023 season.

2023 included one of Georgia's most fun seasons offensively in recent memory. The Dawgs had one of the more lethal offenses from this season, ranking fifth in the NCAA concerning total offense, with 958 total plays amounting to 6,951 yards, which would average 7.26 yards per play and 496.5 yards per game, while scoring 69 total touchdowns.

Some would consider the MVP from Georgia's offensive juggernaut from the 2023 season Carson Beck, the Heisman hopeful throughout this year. Beck had a stellar season, ranking fifth in the NCAA in terms of completion percentage (72.4%), third in the NCAA in terms of passing yards (3,941), and ninth in the NCAA in terms of passing efficiency (167.92). He led one of the NCAA's most potent passing attacks but is not this year's team MVP, with only 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.

A case could also be made for the great Bulldogs tight end, Brock Bowers. Sidelined by an ankle injury for multiple games this season, Bowers still managed to lead the team in reception yards with 714 yards, which ranks him as the second tight end within the NCAA's top 100 receiving yards. A few historic performances from the big man could also solidify his case as the offensive MVP for this season, like his fourth-quarter heroics versus Auburn or being the fastest human to ever recover from a tightrope surgery, but one player, in particular, stood out over both Bowers and Beck this year.

The player taking home the 2023 offensive MVP award is the Dawgs' running back, Daijun Edwards. With an injured Kendall Milton to start the year, Mike Bobo and Dell McGee were searching for answers quickly until Edwards burst onto the scene once he himself became healthy and ran away with that role. He didn't see any reps in the first two games of the season but made his 20 carries against South Carolina count when he went for 118 yards and a touchdown. Edwards rushed for over 100 yards twice this season while also rushing for two touchdowns in five games en route to Georgia's 13-1 record. Edwards' outburst from this season helped him become the NCAA's 60th-leading rusher with 881 yards while being tied for 22nd in the NCAA with 13 total touchdowns. Edwards excelled in almost every facet this season, earning himself the offensive MVP for 2023 as he is on his way to the NFL.

As the nation's fifth-rated offensive attack in the NCAA, there are plenty of props and awards to be given out to each member of this side of the ball, but the one player who stood out this year and helped the Dawgs the most was Daijun Edwards. He will now prepare for the NFL draft as the Dawgs will look to replace both he and Kendall Milton.
