Georgia's Strengths, Weaknesses Exiting 2020 Season

Georgia might have the best roster in the SEC in 2021, but there are still some issues the team needs to address in the offseason.

Georgia football leaves 2020 with a very positive outlook.

The offensive struggles are behind them with quarterback JT Daniels and elite players all around the skill positions. The defense won't be as star-studded as previous years, but it's still a solid unit.

Here are the strengths and weaknesses facing the 2021 Georgia football team heading into the spring:

Weaknesses

Depth in the defensive backfield

Georgia's defensive backfield is totally depleted following the 2020 season. Six of the eight primary contributors are either heading to the NFL or are in the transfer portal.

That's not to say Georgia's defensive backfield is devoid of talent. On the contrary, the starters should be a solid group. The problem lies with depth.

Major Burns is the only notable backup safety right now. No one is tied to the star position except assumed starter Latavious Brini. A lot of players will compete for the two starting cornerback jobs. Ideally, that competition should make corner the deepest spot in the defensive backfield.

Strengths

Loaded offense

There's no reason why Georgia shouldn't have the SEC's best offense next year. Great quarterback? Check. Stable of skilled and talented running backs? Check. The most varied tight-end group in the conference? Check. A healthy array of receivers? Check. An offensive coordinator proven capable of utilizing collections of talent? Check.

Based on the talent this offense has, Georgia should break records in 2021.

Elite front six

What Georgia lacks in the defensive backfield, it makes up for in the front six. The return of Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt provides the core of Georgia's defense. Both are unblockable in the running game and also tend to be forces in the pass rush.

Adam Anderson and Nolan Smith will have a great battle in the offseason for the starting jack position. Regardless of who wins, the competition will help both reach their potential.

Nakobe Dean is Georgia's next great leader at linebacker. Behind him at the position is a litany of other talented and skilled players capable of playing quality minutes.
