Marvin Jones Jr. Expected to Miss Spring Practice

Georgia EDGE defender Marvin Jones Jr. is expected to miss spring practice after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to begin spring practice for the 2023 season in just a few weeks. However, they will be short a key contributor in the linebacker room as Marvin Jones Jr. is expected to miss spring ball after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Jones primarily saw action in the back half of Georgia's 2022 national championship season and provided depth to the Bulldog's edge after Nolan Smith suffered a season ending injury to his pectoral muscle. His playing time was unfortunately lessened after a suffering an ankle injury that would linger throughout the Bulldog's post-season run.

While surgery-requiring injuries do sound very serious and missing spring practice as a sophomore can certainly affect a player's development. Jones is anticipated to make a full recovery come the regular season. Bulldog fans should remember that star tight end, Brock Bowers also missed spring practice due to a similar injury last season (his sophomore year). Bowers ended up appearing in every game this season for the Dawgs and earned a career high 942 receiving yards.
