Everthing From Georgia Tech Cornerback Ahmari Harvey After Tuesday's Practice

Georgia Tech has entered the last week of spring football practice and it will culminate in the Annual White and Gold Game on Saturday afternoon.

After practice on Tuesday, cornerback Ahmari Harvey (31 tackles and three interceptions in 2023) spoke with the media for the first time this spring, and here is everything he had to say.

1. On the success he had last year and how that can spring him toward a big season...

"It'd be a confidence within myself, knowing I'm that dude at corner. Corner is a big thing, a position you got to have a lot of confidence. I felt like towards mid -season, towards end of last season, I started to build that. Coming to this spring has been a little different than me. I had to step into a leadership role in my room. I feel like I'm feeling those shoes where I'm helping young guys out and really becoming a better man off and on the field."

2. On how to shake off a previous play as a cornerback...

"Playing corner, you know, you're not gonna win 100 % of the time. It's always next play mentality. No matter if you had good play or you had a bad play. it's always about the next play. I mean, were I'm from, I had to fight through a lot of adversity even, get to college football, so fighting adversities is like nothing like new to me, so I feel like I know how to handle it well, even if I get beat one time, I always come back the next play, give it my all."

3. On his relationship with Coach Peoples...

"Coach Peoples has been a good dude. He been helping me ever since he got here. As a coach, even experience from the next level, he been where we're trying to go. As a secondary, everybody has league dreams, NFL dreams, and hearing advice from him is good for us. "

4. On Coach Key helping him reach his full potential as a player and a man...

"Coach Key been helping me out. I mean, he been helping me out, helping me be more disciplined on the field, helping my teammates out, just really my chance, yeah."

5. On working with Coach Brumfield...

"I mean, yeah. I kind of built a relationship with him last year. Those special team drills, me playing special teams. You know, special teams are a big part of any team. We always had that relationship. So it was always a respect. So once he came back to corner he even helping us out with our technique and stuff so we all respect them in a room and we all try to get better every day."

6. On his ability to make big plays...

"I don't know. I've been doing, humbly.... I've been doing this since I was little. High school, game winning hail mary's. I don't know. It's just that fourth quarter. It just brings something out of me. I don't know. When my back gets to wall and I got to fight through , just like to be at moments like that. "

7. On his ability to block kicks...

"Yeah. Me blocking kicks, I used to play defensive end in middle school so my DE coach always taught me how to dip my shoulder and get around so I try to use that to my best ability to block kicks. I try to time the snap count. But the first time I just see how it works. How long does it take them just to see I can get the count, then the second time, I'll do it.
