Four-Star Defensive Lineman Xadavien Sims Set To Visit Georgia Tech March 17

Georgia Tech is going to have a talented edge rusher on campus

Spring practice might be coming up, but that does not mean that recruiting is not a top priority for Brent Key and Georgia Tech.

The Yellow Jackets have been welcoming visitors to campus this month and on the 17th, one of the top defensive linemen in the 247Sports rankings will be in Atlanta.

247 recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong tweeted yesterday that four-star defensive lineman Xadavien Sims is going to be visiting Georgia Tech on March 17th, after he visits Arkansas and Michigan State.

This is huge news on the recruiting front, as Sims is a top 100 player in the 247Sports rankings. He is rated as a top 10 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of Oklahoma. Key is swinging for the fences and hoping to make momentum in this recruitment with this visit.

Here is the scouting report on Sims from 247 National scouting analyst Gabe Brooks:

"True hand-on-the-ground D-lineman with a stout build. Adequate height verified in the 6-3 range, similarly adequate frame length with space to add more mass. Very young for his grade. Likely a scheme-versatile prospect given physical traits.

Flashes punch power at the point of attack. Capable of disengaging to make plays on the ball. Has some pursuit juice when closing on a bead.

Play strength is obvious. Bull rusher who can collapse the pocket from the interior, but also plays edge snaps and shows similar brute force on the outside.

Owns valuable two-way snaps with reps at tight end. Flashes impact blocking ability and fires out of stance perhaps more consistently on offense. Experience in shot put and discus with respectable early-career numbers from freshman and sophomore springs.

Needs more technical nuance. That includes hand violence, extension, and disengaging consistency, as well as expanding his move set as a pass rusher. Updated verified measurables, testing, and throws data will also help shed more light on long-term upside.

Nevertheless, projects as a high-major defensive lineman with possible personnel versatility. Could arrive with size and strength to play early if needed. One of the top prospects in the state of Oklahoma's 2024 class. Collection of traits and data points suggest possibility to become an impact college player and NFL Draft candidate.

Georgia Tech currently has one player committed for the 2024 class and that is four-star quarterback Jakhari Williams (Macon, GA). Williams is the guy that Key is going to be building this class around and that is a very good building block.

Currently, Georgia Tech's class is ranked 50th on 247Sports.
