Former Georgia Tech Wide Receiver Malachi Carter Signs With Cincinnati Bengals

Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Malachi Carter has found his first home as an NFL player.
Carter is going to be playing for one of the best teams in the NFL, the Cincinnati Bengals. Carter went undrafted in the 2023 draft but has found a good landing spot for his first NFL spot.
Keion White was drafted in the second round by the New England Patriots, Charlie Thomas and Hassan Hall signed with the Cleveland Browns, E.J. Jenkins with the New York Jets, and Ace Eley was invited to Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp.
Nobody has ever played in more games as a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket than Malachi Carter.
Carter broke that record this season when Georgia Tech defeated Virginia Tech on the road and he was a part of the transition on offense during the Geoff Collins era at Georgia Tech.
Carter was consistent during his time at Georgia Tech and that was despite subpar quarterback play and offenses during his years in Atlanta. He only caught three passes for 56 yards in his first season in 2018, but he got going in 2019 and saw the field more.
During Collin's first season as the head coach at Tech, everyone knew it was going to be a struggle on offense transitioning away from the triple option offense, but Carter did find a way to catch 16 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns.
During the abbreviated 2020 season, Carter reeled in 20 catches for 290 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. Carter led the team in receiving in 2021 with 37 receptions for 489 yards. During his last season as a Yellow Jacket, Carter caught 23 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns.
Malachi Carter was a leader for the Georgia Tech offense last season
At 6'3 192 LBS, Carter has the size to be an outside receiver in the NFL, but I think the concern for him might be speed. Carter had a decent 40-time at Georgia Tech's pro day (sub 4.7), but that is not as fast as I am sure he would have liked to run.
Carter did not receive an invite to the 2023 NFL Combine, but he did get a chance to play in the 2023 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, where he led the National team in receiving with three catches for 34 yards.
Carter does not have the intriguing physical attributes of fellow Yellow Jackets receiver EJ Jenkins, but he has a knack for making plays. Don't read too much into his stats while at Georgia Tech because of the overall offensive overhaul that the team and program was going through and the inconsistent quarterback play.
He is an extremely hard-working guy that can find a way to get on the field and I would not bet against Carter surprising teams in training camp and in the preseason this fall.
