Gonzaga coach Mark Few on loss to Saint Mary's: 'Guys gotta step up and make shots'

Bulldogs shot 9-for-27 from the floor in second half of 64-62 loss to Gaels

A common denominator in all of the close losses the Gonzaga Bulldogs have endured this season?

Cold stretches on offense in crunch time.

At Washington, Gonzaga shot 7-for-27 from the field in the second half, missed all nine of their 3-point attempts and managed to score 10 points over the final 11:20 in the 78-73 loss. The Santa Clara game was more on the team's slow start, but missed free throws down the stretch certainly didn't help close the deal. Then on Saturday, the Bulldogs missed seven of their final 10 shot attempts while the Gaels ripped off an 8-0 scoring run late to seize momentum and escape with a 64-42 win.

"It was hard for us to generate any baskets," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. "Took a couple, I thought panicky sort of shots there a little bit in that stretch, especially when the guards went downhill. And we actually had some good shots in there, [Braden Huff's 3-point miss at the 4:00 mark]."

"But hey, that's the end of the game. Guys gotta step up and make shots," Few said.
