Despite a strong first half from the No. 11 Gonzaga Bulldogs, Zach Edey and the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers were too much to handle in the first round of the Maui Invitational.

The 7-foot-3 post paced the Boilermakers (4-0) with 25 points and 14 rebounds in the 73-63 win over the Bulldogs (2-1), who struggled to find the bottom of the basket in the second half. Gonzaga shot 12-for-34 from the field, including 0-for-13 from beyond the arc, over the final 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Purdue dominated down low with a 44-30 advantage in points in the paint.
