Gonzaga's Ryan Nembhard named WCC Player of the Week

Braden Huff earned freshman of the week honors

The No. 7 Gonzaga Bulldogs swept the West Coast Conference men's basketball individual honors this week, as Ryan Nembhard earned the league's Player of the Week award while Braden Huff took home Freshman of the Week honors.

In the pair of wins for the Zags (6-1) last week, Nembhard averaged a team-best 17.5 points and 6.0 assists while shooting 60.9% from the field on 11.5 attempts. The Creighton transfer dropped a season-best 22 points in the 81-65 win over Cal State Bakersfield, before a 15-point, seven-assist outing in a 13-point win over USC and its talented backcourt tandem of Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier. The honor is Nembhard's first of the season and the second consecutive player of the week for Gonzaga after Anton Watson earned it last week.

For Huff, he was the biggest factor off the bench averaging 12.0 points on 62.5% shooting from the field in the two wins. The 6-foot-10 redshirt freshman is up to 11.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per outing on the season while playing 15.7 minutes per game off the bench. The honor is the first for Huff in his career and the first freshman of the week honor for Gonzaga this season.

Gonzaga transfer Dominick Harris was among the other WCC players nominated for the Player of the Week award. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 22.0 points and 5.5 rebounds with Loyola Marymount last week, highlighted by a career-best 31 points and seven 3-pointers in the Lions' win over Central Arkansas. Harris paces the team in scoring thus far with 13.9 points per game.
