Indiana Makes Top Seven For 2024 Small Forward Tyler Betsey

Tyler Betsey, a four-star small forward in the class of 2024, announced his top seven schools on Wednesday, including Duke, UConn, Alabama, Cincinnati, Indiana, Creighton and Villanova.

Indiana is in the running for class of 2024 small forward Tyler Betsey.

Betsey will decide between Duke, UConn, Alabama, Cincinnati, Indiana, Creighton and Villanova, but he does not have a decision date set, according to a report from On3's Joe Tipton on Wednesday.

Betsey took an official visit to Indiana in June, and has also visited UConn and Creighton. He felt the love while in Bloomington, as children attending coach Mike Woodson's summer basketball camp chanted, "We want Tyler" during his visit to Assembly Hall.

Betsey, a 6-foot-8, 185-pound small forward, is widely considered a four-star prospect in the class of 2024. He's ranked No. 16 in the nation by On3, No. 25 by Rivals, No. 28 by 247 Sports and No. 56 in the ESPN Top 100.

Betsey attends St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn., and he plays AAU for the NY Rens on the Nike EYBL Circuit. Across 23 games of EYBL play in 2023, Betsey averaged 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He shot 34.1 percent from 3-point range on 7.4 attempts per game, while making 86 percent of his free throws, according to a source with EYBL tracking data.

Indiana currently does not have any commits in the class of 2024, but coach Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers are involved with plenty of highly-ranked prospects.

Betsey sees a potential future at Indiana, in part due to Jalen Hood-Schifino's Big Ten Freshman of the Year campaign last season.

“I saw what they did with Jalen Hood-Schifino," Betsey told On3's Jamie Shaw. "They created a plan for him; they stuck to the plan and didn’t listen to what people on the outside were saying. A lot of people were saying he wasn’t a one-and-done when the season started, and they developed him into a first-round pick. Coach Woodson was a player, and he coached in the NBA. He could help me get there.”
