No. 1 Purdue traveled to Bloomington on Saturday for the first of two Big Ten matchups this season with Indiana. The Hoosiers dominated the first half and held off a Purdue rally in the second half to win 79-74.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — It's no secret that Indiana and Purdue have a long and tumultuous rivalry. This year, however, it was even more tense with the Boilermakers coming into the game with just one loss. Purdue was firmly atop the Associated Press poll at No. 1.

The Hoosiers have had their share of struggles this season. Riddled with injuries, Indiana no doubt has the talent but consistency has been a key that has been illusive.

Saturday's game different, and this one had that old school Indiana basketball swagger to it.

The Hoosiers dominated the first 20 minutes, leading by 15 points at the half. Purdue made adjustments in the locker room and looked much more cohesive during the second half, but Indiana's defense held them at bay, ultimately leading the Hoosiers to a 79-74 victory at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Trayce Jackson-Davis led the way for Indiana with 25 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. Freshman guard Jalen Hood-Schifino added 16 points and four assists. Trey Galloway also contributed 11 points.

The Hoosiers are back at home on Tuesday night for a rematch with Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights beat Indiana in New Jersey.
