Rapper Gucci Mane To Perform at 2023 Hoosier Hysteria

Indiana welcomes a big-time guest for 2023 Hoosier Hysteria. Gucci Mane, an Atlanta-based rapper, will perform at the event on Oct. 20 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana announced Wednesday that Gucci Mane will perform at Hoosier Hysteria this year.

The event is scheduled for Oct. 20 inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, but an official start time has not yet been announced.

Gucci Mane, an Altanta-based rapper, has received various nominations at the Grammy Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, iHeart Radio Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards. In 2015, Vice wrote an article calling Gucci Mane, "the most influential rapper of the last decade."

Gucci Mane founded his own record label, 1017 records, in 2007 and has released 14 studio albums.

This is the second year in a row that Indiana has added a concert to the Hoosier Hysteria festivities. In 2022, rapper G Herbo performed on stage to conclude the event.

Though specific details for the 2023 edition haven't been announced, Hoosier Hysteria is seen as the first introduction to the Indiana men's and women's basketball teams. The event typically includes player introductions, speeches from both head coaches, a 3-point contest, a dunk contest, a skills contest and a team scrimmage.

Hoosier Hysteria is also important from a recruiting perspective. Indiana often invites dozens of high school recruits to the event in order to show them the basketball facilities, meet with coaches and players, and highlight the passion of the Indiana fanbase. Having a musical performance from a wildly popular rapper like Gucci Mane only helps these efforts.
