2024 Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament Sold Out For First Time in History
For the first time in conference history, the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament is sold out. The league made the announcement on Friday. This year's event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 through Sunday, March 10 at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
"The B1G Conference is excited to announce the 2024 TIAA (Big Ten Women's Basketball) Tournament is sold out for the first time in its history!" the conference posted on X.
The Big Ten is one of the premier conferences in women's college basketball. It is home to all-time scoring leader Caitlin Clark (Iowa) and three teams currently ranked in the top-15 of the Associated Press Poll: No. 2 Ohio State, No. 4 Iowa and No. 14 Indiana.
As the women's college basketball season winds down, 11 of the league's 14 teams own overall winning records. It should be an incredibly fun event beginning in early March in Minneapolis.
The Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament began in 1995 and has seen eight different champions. Purdue has won the event nine times, more than any other team in the league. The Boilermakers' last Big Ten Tournament title came in 2013.
Since 2015, three teams have dominated the tournament. Maryland has won the event five times in that stretch and has made two additional championship game appearances.
Iowa has won it each of the last two seasons, with Caitlin Clark being named Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament MVP both times. The Hawkeyes have reached the finals in three consecutive seasons.

- Iowa Hawkeyes — 5 (1997, 2001, 2019, 2022, 2023)
- Maryland Terrapins — 5 (2015-17, 2020, 2021)
- Ohio State Buckeyes — 5 (2006, 2009-11, 2018)
- Penn State Nittany Lions — 2 (1995, 1996)
- Indiana Hoosiers — 1 (2002)
- Michigan State Spartans — 1 (2005)
- Nebraska Cornhuskers — 1 (2014)
*Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, Rutgers and Wisconsin have never won a Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament championship.
