Troy Aikman 'Hopes' Jim Harbaugh Coaches NFL Team in 2024

Will Jim Harbaugh return to the NFL after leading Michigan to a national championship? Former Dallas Cowboys star and current ESPN broadcaster Troy Aikman says he hopes to see Harbaugh coaching a team in the NFL next season.

Troy Aikman is ready to see Jim Harbaugh coaching in the NFL again. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current ESPN broadcaster made the comment during Saturday's AFC divisional round playoff game between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens.

Jim was in Baltimore to show support for his brother, John, who is in his 16th season as the coach of the Ravens. When the camera panned to the Michigan leader, both Joe Buck and Aikman made comments.

“There’s Jim, sweating through this on a cold day in Baltimore. In-between interviews, I guess,” Buck said.

Harbaugh has interviewed with multiple NFL teams — including the Los Angeles Chargers and Atlanta Falcons — since Michigan's national title run earlier this month.

“I hope we see him in the NFL next year. He’s going to make someone a heckuva a football coach,” Aikman said. “He’s won everywhere he’s been, beginning when he began his coaching career at the University of San Diego. But congratulations to him on his national championship.”

Because of the suspensions Jim faced throughout the 2023 season at Michigan, as well as a pending NCAA investigation, there's been a lot of rumors about him leaving Ann Arbor for the NFL. There seems to be some fire with the smoke.

Jim has enjoyed a great three-year run. Since 2021, he's led the Wolverines to three wins over Ohio State, three consecutive Big Ten titles and one national championship. Now, it's believed he wants to return to the NFL where he can pursue a Super Bowl ring.

Jim last coached in the NFL from 2011-14, leading the San Francisco 49ers for four seasons. He got the team to Super Bowl XLVII, but lost a 34-31 game to the Ravens, with his brother on the other sideline.
