Big Ten Roundup (Aug. 3): Wisconsin Lands 3-Star DB, Nebraska Player Facing Charges

Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers earned a commitment from Remington Moss on Wednesday, a three-star defensive back in the class of 2025. In basketball news, Ahron Ulis — who transferred from Iowa to Nebraska this offseason — is facing charges for alleged wagering at his previous school.

Luke Fickell's Wisconsin Badgers don't have time to waste on the recruiting trail, apparently. Even with 2025 being a full two college football seasons away, Wisconsin just picked up its second commit in the class of 2025, landing three-star defensive back Remington Moss.

In basketball news, Nebraska's Ahron Ulis — who previously played for Fran McCaffery and the Iowa Hawkeyes — is facing tampering charges amidst the gambling probe that's been conducted at his previous stop in Iowa. The probe alleges that Ulis placed nearly 2,000 wagers worth more than $34,000.

Here's everything you need to know in today's Big Ten roundup:

Remington Moss Commits to Wisconsin

Fredericksburg, Va., native Moss joined quarterback Landyn Locke as one of just two commits in Wisconsin's 2025 recruiting class.

Remington is cousin of the late Brent Moss, who played running back for Wisconsin from 1991-94 under head coach Barry Alvarez. During his collegiate career, Brent won the 1993 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, the 1994 Rose Bowl MVP and finished with 3,428 career rushing yards.

Remington Moss is ranked as a three-star prospect and the 12th-best player in the state of Virginia in the class of 2025, according to Rivals. In addition to Wisconsin, Moss was also offered scholarships from Power 5 schools such as Penn State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Boston College, according to 247 Sports.

The Badgers already hold the 23rd-overall ranked team recruiting class in 2024, according to 247, and with the commitment of the talented Moss, they're off to a good start for 2025.

Ahron Ulis Facing Tampering Charges

The Iowa gambling probe continues to grow, now including current Nebraska basketball player Ahron Ulis. As first reported by The Gazette, Ulis placed nearly 2,000 wagers during his time in Iowa City, disguising his bets by using his older brother's information. He is now facing a tampering with records charge.

At least one of those wagers was placed on an Iowa sporting event, according to The Gazette's report. According to NCAA guidelines, an athlete who places a bet on a sporting event at their own school, “will potentially face permanent loss of collegiate eligibility in all sports.”
