Louisville Transfer Brandon Huntley-Hatfield Plans To Visit Indiana

After averaging 12.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for Louisville in 2023-24, 6-foot-10 forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield entered the transfer portal and has scheduled a visit to Indiana.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana has six scholarships to fill heading into the 2024-25 season, and one transfer to monitor is forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield.

Huntley-Hatfield is planning to visit Indiana from April 12 to 14, as first reported by On3's Joe Tipton.

A 6-foot-10, 235-pound forward, Huntley-Hatfield played his freshman season at Tennessee, followed by two seasons at Louisville under coach Kenny Payne, who was fired after his second season in 2023-24 season and replaced by former Charleston coach Pat Kelsey.

As a junior at Louisville in 2023-24, Huntley-Hatfield averaged a career-high 12.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, along with 33 assists and 26 blocks across 32 games. He started every game for the 8-24 Cardinals and shot 56.7% from the field and 9-for-21 (42.9%) from 3-point range, both career-highs, plus 67.2% from the free throw line.

He finished the season with eight double-doubles and scored a career-high 29 points against Florida State. Huntley-Hatfield's 269 rebounds ranked eighth in the ACC. He's at his best as a lob threat around the rim and as a rebounder, but showed the ability to step out and knock down 3-point shots occasionally.

Huntley-Hatfield averaged 6.7 points and 5.4 rebounds as a sophomore at Lousville, one season after averaging 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds as a freshman at Tennessee. Across his three-year college career, Huntley-Hatfield started 66 games and played in 91. He has one year of remaining eligibility.

Indiana lost starting center Kel'el Ware – the team's leading scorer and rebounder in 2023-24 – to the NBA Draft. Backup forward Anthony Walker graduated, and Payton Sparks transferred back to Ball State, so coach Mike Woodson could certainly use a player like Huntley-Hatfield to reinforce Indiana's front court.
