St. Louis Transfer Gibson Jimerson Hears From Indiana

Indiana has been in contact with St. Louis guard Gibson Jimerson, a 39.5% 3-point shooter across 789 career attempts.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – With six open scholarships heading into the 2024-25 season, Indiana has been in contact with dozens of players in the transfer portal in the last few weeks.

That includes St. Louis transfer Gibson Jimerson, who has most recently heard from West Virginia, Memphis, Indiana, Clemson, Texas A&M, UCLA, Washington and Pittsburgh, according to 24/7 High School Hoops.

Gibson is a 6-foot-5, 215-pound guard with one year of eligibility. He spent all five seasons at St. Louis, dating back to the 2019-20 season, and has played in 132 career games with 116 starts.

In 2023-24, he averaged 15.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field, 35.9% from 3-point range and 86.4% from the free throw line. That's his second-highest scoring season of his career, but it was his worst from a field goal and 3-point percentage standpoint.

Indiana could certainly use 3-point shooters after it ranked12th in the Big Ten and 273rd nationally with a 32.4 3-point percentage. Its 15.5 attempts per game ranked 356th out of 363 teams.

Jimerson is a career 39.5% 3-point shooter across 789 career attempts, including two seasons of 42% or higher from beyond the arc. He attempted over 200 3-pointers in his final three seasons at St. Louis and made at least 2.4 per game in four of five seasons.

In comparison, only six players in the entire Big Ten averaged 2.4 3-pointers made per game in 2023-24. Indiana hasn't had a player surpass that number since James Blackmon Jr. in 2016-17, and Mackenzie Mgbako led the team with 1.5 this past season.

Jimerson averaged 10-plus points in four of five seasons at St. Louis, and he's a career 84.5% free throw shooter. He's a three-time All-Atlantic-10 player and earned third-team all-conference honors in 2023-24.

Jimerson committed to St. Louis in the class of 2019 out of Montverde Academy in Florida, the same prep school as current Hoosier Malik Reneau and former Big Ten Freshman of the Year Jalen Hood-Schifino. Jimerson was a three-star recruit, ranked No. 458 in the nation and is originally from Richmond, Va.
