*Editor's Note: If you came here expecting hard-core film breakdown with a lot of terminology you don't understand, well, you came to the wrong place. It's just a guy who's watched a lot of football in his 55 years on earth and loves the game.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Everyone knew Iowa would be adding a receiver through the transfer portal this offseason if they paid attention during 2022. The Hawkeyes honed in on Charleston Southern's Seth Anderson pretty quickly and closed.

The son of former NFL receiver Willie "Flipper" Anderson caught 42 balls for 628 yards (14.9 YPC) and seven touchdowns for the FCS program during the Fall. He won his conference's receiver of the year award as a freshman.

Anderson prepped at the same Atlanta-area high school that sent the Hawkeyes former running back Tyler Goodson. North Gwinnett has produced plenty of college players.

I like his highlights. Again, disclaimer, they're highlights. In that context, I'm very much looking forward to watching him play in '23.

This first social media post from Anderson below informs. Listed are statistics, awards and highlights. He hit the trifecta of helpfulness.

I recommend watching all 2 minutes, 20 seconds of clips. His plays are encouraging for an offense that needs assistance at his position. The advantage of watching the highlights on Twitter is that the second Tweet holds the second half of his clips.

Anderson sprints down the middle of the field untouched for a 39-touchdown catch in above clip. Not sure what happened to the defense. It's a zone but that's a huge swath of real estate left uncovered. Credit Anderson for getting into space with a good route and showing off his speed.

In watching Anderson's season highlights, several areas of his game stand out to me. While it's hard judging the competition faced, he boasts skills that will play against anybody.

He shows off a good vertical leap and times his jump well. He can haul in passes at their highest points. Good corners can defend the play, but doing it consistently is difficult.

Anderson also adjusts well to balls not thrown right on him. That really stands out on deep passes. Quarterbacks and offensive coordinators trust guys who can go make a play.

Anderson succeeds in running deep, intermediate and short routes. He can be quick and strong in space allowing him to avoid or run through would-be tacklers.

Versatility makes him viable at any of Iowa's three receiver spots. That and seeing successful blocking clips in the highlight package help the chances he'll be receiving plenty of reps with the Hawkeyes.

Anderson and projected starting quarterback Cade McNamara from Michigan enrolled at Iowa last month. That provided them with roughly eight months for working on timing and chemistry. They're games on film complement each other.

And if you're questioning Anderson's athleticism, check out the video below of him wrestling in high school.
