Sage Clawges visited Iowa Football 15 months ago for a junior day. The bond between he and the Hawkeyes has continued growing ever since.

The Oakdale (CT) St. Thomas More receiver returns to campus the weekend of June 23 for an official visit. He's looking forward to another stop.

"Iowa was one of the first Power 5 colleges to start building a relationship with me early on in my recruitment," he told HN. "They've always been very consistent with keeping up with how I'm doing and how my family is doing.

"When I took a junior day last year to Iowa, the coaching staff was very welcoming and they showed a true good connection between them and their players, so all of that has played a big part in me wanting to visit Iowa officially."

Clawges (6-4, 185) also reports scholarship offers from Penn State, Syracuse, Coastal Carolina and others. He has visits to Penn State, Coastal Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest behind him as well. Iowa is the lone official visit he's set up so far.

During his Hawkeye official visit, he's looking forward to a more extensive look at the program and university than he received during the junior day stop.

"I would like to get to see the facilities a bit more, and take a look at the practice fields and nutrition center. Also, I would like to hear that the use of wide receivers would be more included in upcoming seasons," he said.

The Hawkeyes see Clawges lining up at the X receiver position on the outside.

"They believe that with my size and speed that I'll be able to out-body and be a matchup nightmare for DBs in college being a huge target for Iowa," he said.

Clawges plans on studying sports medicine in college. Academics will be a big part of his final decision as well as some other factors.

"I want to see a great culture built around the program along with a very close relationship between the coaches and their players. I'm also looking for a receiver coach that I feel can best develop me into my potential," he said.

Hawkeye receiver coach Kelton Copeland is leading the program's pursuit of Clawges.

247Sports ranks Clawges as a three-star prospect and the No. 177 receiver nationally in the 2024 Class. You can check out Clawges' '22 highlights HERE
