The countdown jumps back over to the Rock Chalk Podcast again, grabbing an early preview of the Houston Cougars from some of the people that follow the team full-time. Sam and Dustin of the Scott & Holman Pawdcast join the show for their first appearance to dive deep into the Houston Cougars. We talk about the expectations for this team as they prepare to enter the Big 12, what players Kansas fans should keep an eye out for, and what the strengths of this team will be this season. Plus, we got into some predictions for this team in their last season in the American Athletic Conference.

The episode gets started with the biggest story of the offseason for Houston: the official word that they will be joining the Big 12 Conference for the 2023 season. We looked at how that affected last season, and what it means for the official last season as a member of the American Athletic Conference.

Then we jump into the offense that Dana Holgorsen has been running at Houston. How much different is it from what Big 12 fans were so familiar with at West Virginia? We explore that as Sam and Dustin share the players that they expect to be the biggest names for those outside the program to remember. And then we talk about the most important part of any offense: The offensive line.

After the break, we get into the defense for Houston. With some big losses in the defensive secondary, we look at whether this team is expected to be better against the run or the pass this season.

We finish up by looking through the schedule for the Cougars, including how the Jayhawks may be one of the tougher opponents on their regular season schedule. Included is a number for the number of wins that Houston fans should expect for the team.
