It wasn't exactly an up is down, black is white weekend in the Big XII, but it certainly had some drama, especially before the weekend even started. Here's a quick recap of all the games in case you couldn't plant yourself in front of a TV all day.

What a way to get your first win in the Big XII conference! Houston quarterback Donovan Smith chucked a 49-yard Hail Mary as time expired, and after a tip on the goal line, Stephon Johnson snatched the tip, securing a miraculous win for the Cougars, 41-39. But what is even more amazing is that West Virginia had scored just 12 seconds earlier. Mountaineers QB Garrett Greene connected with Hudson Clement on a 50-yard catch and run to seemingly put the game out of reach, taking a 39-35 lead into the final seconds. But it wasn’t to be. The Houston Cougars improve to 1-2 and WVU falls to 2-1. Houston plays host to Texas next week while West Virginia hosts Oklahoma State.

K-State got a much needed win against Texas Tech, going down to Lubbock and beating the Red Raiders 38-21. After a three-interception game the last time out, the Wildcats decided to do it on the ground this time. Freshman quarterback Avery Johnson played the entire second half for Kansas State where he scored three of his five rushing touchdowns to give the Wildcats a victory going away. K-State hosts TCU next week while Texas Tech travels to BYU. More on those teams below.

TCU took a 24-0 lead and never looked back in their complete domination of the BYU Cougars. The TCU defense got the game started off with a bang  on the third play of the game, BYU’s Kedon Slovis was intercepted by Millard Bradford who took it to the house. But it was the offense that was the real star of the show. Horned Frogs quarterback Josh Hoover went 37 of 58 for 439 yards and four touchdowns in the 44-11 rout.

Cincinnati slumped to 0-3 in conference play as they got run over by the Iowa State Cyclones, 30-10. ISU quarterback Rocco Becht threw for two touchdowns and ran in for another as Iowa State improved to 3-1 in Big 12 play. Cincinnati plays at home again next week, this time hosting Baylor while Iowa State has the week off.
