We all know that the Kansas/Illinois game will be first and foremost on the minds of the readers of this site. But that game is on Friday night, leaving Saturday wide open for your college football viewing pleasure. Here are some of the more intriguing games of the weekend.

12 Utah at Baylor, 11:00AM ESPN

The first game on Saturday is also a must win for Baylor against next year’s conference foe Utah. After losing to Texas State at home last weekend, the Bears will have to seriously up their game if they want to take down the reigning Pac-12 champs. Utah are seven point favorites in Waco.

20 Mississippi at 24 Tulane, 2:30PM ESPN2

Ole Miss is a seven point favorite on the road, but you’ve gotta believe that the atmosphere in New Orleans is gonna be off the charts for this matchup of two ranked teams. Plus, the Green Wave have one of the greatest all time mascots roaming the sidelines, so if the game gets boring, just lookout for that sweet wave.

11 Texas at 3 Alabama, 6:00PM ESPN

This is the big boy of the weekend. Texas gets to preview their future lives when they travel to Tuscaloosa on Saturday night. I have a feeling that I know what every Big XII fan that isn’t a Longhorn will be cheering for in this one. I mean if you were having trouble with Kansas in the David Beaty era, I think I know what’s gonna happen in this one. And yes, this is just pure Texas trolling right now, but you know what? That’s fine.

13 Oregon at Texas Tech, 6:00PM FOX (check local listings)

Losing on the road to Wyoming isn’t the worst thing that could happen, but considering the expectations that Texas Tech had this season, it’s not a good look. Now, the high flying Oregon Ducks come to Lubbock. After scoring 81 points against Portland State, their offense isn’t lacking confidence, but Tech is a different animal obviously.

Nebraska at 22 Colorado, 6:00PM FOX (check local listings)

Buffaloes coach Deion “Prime Time” Sanders is the current talk of college football after Colorado’s win over TCU in week one. Now, the Buffs welcome former conference rival and current Big 10 doormat Nebraska to Boulder. Can Prime make it two in a row, or will Nebraska show a semblance of their former selves (it’s been a while!) and give a display that gives their massive fanbase a sense of pride?

Arizona at Mississippi State, 6:30PM SECN

Underperforming Power Five schools with generic mascots facing off against each other on the SEC Network? Sure, why not? After beating minnows in week one (Northern Arizona and SE Louisiana respectively), the Wildcats and Bulldogs will each be out to get a big win before conference play begins. Plus, watching Arizona a year before they join the conference seems like something Big XII fans might do.

Stanford at 6 USC, 9:30PM Fox

The final Pac-12 matchup between these long time conference rivals takes place in the late time slot on Saturday. Sure, USC is a 29 point favorite at home, but hey, conference football matchups are few and far between this early in the season, so it makes the list.
