The Kansas Jayhawks come back home this week looking to get back on the right track after an embarrassing second-half performance down in Austin. The UCF Knights come in to Lawrence looking to wash the taste of an embarrassing collapse at home against Baylor out of their mouth.

Neither team is expected to be at full strength, but both need this win to get to where they want to be on the season. So which team is able to exert their will on this game and get an important victory?

I know that KU is obviously a worse team without QB1, I truly believe that Bean is good enough to win this game after getting a full week of practice with the ones. UCF has a ton of team speed, but Kansas isn’t exactly slow, either. If the Jayhawks can get the running game going (feed Devin Neal, guys) and avoid self-inflicted mistakes, I think KU hangs on to win.

Kansas 30, UCF 28.

While the Jalon Daniels news is certainly disconcerting, I feel confident in Jason Bean as he has been practicing with the first string all week. This is one of the games that I had marked as a win when we were making preseason predictions, so I’m sticking with it. The Booth will be packed and Kansas will be ready although I do think this one has the potential to be a nail biter.

Kansas 38, UCF 34.

Normally I'd be worried going into this game, given how spectacularly the Jayhawks flopped in the second half of last week. But without Jalon Daniels, the run game becomes even more important. And the weakness of this UCF defense is the rushing defense, especially up the middle. I expect a heavy dose of Daniel Hishaw to soften it up in the middle paired with Devin Neal hitting hard on the edges. Don't be shocked if Kansas runs for 350+ yards.

On the other end, this defense is hungry to show what they can do after wearing down against Texas. They should be able to take advantage of an inconsistent offensive line. Give me 7 sacks on the day as Kansas takes out their frustrations on the Knights.

Kansas 42, UCF 28.
