Kentucky Down to No. 19 in New D1Baseball Top 25

After a 1-2 weekend in Knoxville against Tennessee, Kentucky baseball has fallen two spots to No. 19 in the latest D1Baseball Top 25.
The Bat Cats slugged five home runs on Sunday in a 10-0 win over the Volunteers, avoiding a sweep while continuing their quest to become an NCAA Tournament Regional host.
UK now has 15 SEC wins with three left to play in the 2023 regular season. It is one of six SEC teams ranked heading into the final week before the conference tournament in Hoover, Ala.:
- 2. Arkansas
- 4. Florida
- 5. LSU
- 12. Vanderbilt
- 13. South Carolina
- 18. Tennessee
- 19. Kentucky
"Still trying to get more wins," head coach Nick Mingione said postgame Sunday. "I'll see what happens today in the league, but all of our goals are still in front of us that we want to grab and go for. Last weekend — it's hard to believe it's week 10."
The Wildcats finish the season at home against No. 4 Florida, which moved up three spots after a loud sweep over Vanderbilt in Gainesville over the weekend. The Gators are now 40-12 (18-9 SEC) and have a chance to win the SEC East with another big series in Lexington.
"Thankful to be at home for that, but at the same time, understand that still there's a lot to play for and (Florida) is a team that's playing a really good brand of baseball," Mingione said. "So we'll have our hands full, but love the way our team is competing right now."
Kentucky could potentially improve its seeding in the SEC Tournament with a couple of wins, as it currently sits in sixth place:
