Rick Pitino, St. John's Add Kansas Transfer Forward Zuby Ejiofor

The former Jayhawk is headed to Queens, joining former UK head coach Rick Pitino and a new-look Red Storm.

Former Kentucky head coach Rick Pitino is yet to step on the court as the new skipper of St. John's for the first time, but he's already doing things that the Red Storm haven't seen in quite some time.

The longtime coach added yet another transfer portal addition on Monday, as CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reported that Kansas forward Zuby Ejiofor is headed to Queens:

A 6-foot-9, 240-pounder out of Garland, Texas, Ejiofor was in the portal after one season with the Jayhawks, in which he played 25 games. In those appearances, he averaged only 5.2 minutes, scoring 1.2 points and adding 1.7 rebounds-per-game.

Kentucky was one of many programs that reached out, with Ejiofor reportedly giving the Wildcats some though — contingent on the decision made by Oscar Tshiebwe. Reports then circulated that a visit to UK was in the works, but instead a commitment came after visiting St. John's.

He had also visited Villanova and had visits scheduled with both TCU and San Diego State. Ejiofor was a 4-star recruit and now joins a new-look Red Storm team that includes Penn transfer Jordan Dingle — the son of a former player at UMass under UK coach John Calipari.

Kentucky is still without an addition via the portal, though that's expected to change, as former San Diego State forward Keshad Johnson is expected to make his commitment announcement this weekend, with the Cats thought to be the frontrunners.

The waiting game treks on for UK as NBA draft decisions await and prodding in the portal continues.
