Kentucky missed one of their portal targets, but many names are still on the table.

It's transfer portal time, and the Kentucky Wildcats have been looking to add a few players via the transfer portal.

John Calipari's team will likely lose a few players to the NBA Draft, and Adou Thiero's future is still up in the air, so the Wildcats will need to add a few players.

One of the players the Kentucky coaching staff reached out to is Meechie Johnson who played at South Carolina a season ago averaging 14.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

Coach Calipari and the staff will have to keep looking for portal guards, as we found out yesterday that Johnson will finish his college basketball career, where it started at Ohio State.

After seeing Boogie Fland play in the McDonald's All-American game, you have to feel better about the guard play for next season as he won't have any issues scoring, but you will likely lose Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham to the draft, and Antonio Reeves is out of eligibility.

This means the Wildcats will need to add a few guards via the portal unless D.J. Wagner decides he wants to come back to Lexington for another year. You still might need more guards even if Wagner does return for a sophomore season.

The coaching staff has reached out to some talented players, so while Johnson decided to take his talent to Ohio State, the Wildcats won't have any issue bringing in a talented scoring guard.

Coach Calipari is going to hit the transfer portal out of the park this season.
