LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program has secured some help on the back end on the final day of the transfer portal window.
Former Ole Miss safety Travaris "T.J." Banks announced Friday that he has committed to the Cardinals.
So far, Louisville has landed 28 transfer commitments, offsetting 24 portal defections that they have seen up to this point. The 14-day transfer window officially opened up back on Jan. 2, and it is the only opportunity for players to enter following the removal of the spring window.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety was a rotational defensive back on an Ole Miss squad that made the College Football Playoff semifinals. He suited up in 14 of their 15 games and made one start, logging 20 tackles (11 solo), half a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.
Banks was a blue-chip prospect coming out of high school, ranked as the No. 259 recruit in the Class of 2024, per the 247Sports Composite. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native got some early playing time as a true freshman, seing action in nine games and making four tackles.
In their third season under head coach Jeff Brohm, Louisville went 9-4 overall, including a 4-4 mark in ACC play and a 27-22 win over Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl. The Cardinals have won at least nine games in all three seasons under Brohm, doing so for the first time since 2012-14.
