What Stood Out On Day Five of LSU Fall Camp

LSU heads into its second week of fall camp, showcasing the new roster production on both sides of the ball to warm up for a highly anticipated season.

Day five saw a faster pace, with position groups all over the roster gaining momentum in rotations and depth charts.

The Wide Receiver Room Work

After Lane Kiffin brought in nine new wide receivers this offseason, LSU's offensive production is crucial this fall camp to solidify its outside options and establish an elite identity.

As wide receivers continue to rotate between starting quarterback Sam Leavitt and backup quarterbacks Husan Longstreet and Landen Clark, the depth in the room is obvious, with stars emerging as projected starters.

Florida transfer Eugene Wilson III showcased his receiving abilities today, leading drills for both short and long passes from Leavitt, putting on a talent show for his dad, Eugene Wilson II, on the sidelines.

Old Dominion transfer Tre' Brown and Illinois transfer Malik Elzy were also seen securing passes from Leavitt on day five, warming up to Kiffin's fast-paced offense.

On the second team, Troy transfer Roman Mothershed continues to emerge in the receiver room, putting his explosive abilities and useful vertical ceiling, standing at 6'5, when leading drills from Longstreet.

An Elite Offensive Duo Is Forming

As Leavitt gets used to a brand new wide receiver room, one veteran looks comfortable on the offense with the new quarterback.

Leavitt and tight end Trey'Dez Green continue their successful talent show during this week of fall camp, both wearing yellow and leading drills.

It's clear Leavitt feels good about being able to spot Green over tough conference defenses, standing at 6'7, and is comfortable with him securing a quick pass before exploding downfield.

As the receiver room continues to impress coaches each practice, the duo that stands out comes from Leavitt and Green. And the fire is only growing.

Whit Weeks Is An Ideal Defender

One of the biggest household names that lies on LSU's roster is senior linebacker Whit Weeks, leading the team as captain and leading the defense to be a serious threat for opposing quarterbacks.

He continues to show off his elite defensive skills in week two of fall camp, with the quick ability to pressure a defender and use his force to take down anyone in front of him.

Weeks essentially looks ready to rip someone's head off in the early days off fall camp, and with him practicing at full speed isn't just an early preveiw to what will be a quarterback's worst nightmare, but a standard across the defense.

Being the ideal linebacker for LSU's top-ranked defensive unit, while also being a successful leader on the team, is the exact product of defensive coordinator Blake Baker.

After bringing in new faces all over the defense from the portal and incoming freshmen, new faces can see the standard that Baker holds and creates for defensive players.
