Maryland recruiting target Jordan Longino, a class of 2021 four-star shooting guard prospect, is set to make his college decision on Thursday, he announced.

Longino doesn’t have a list of finalists and he’s kept his recruitment close to vest, but the Terps are one of the main schools involved, along with Villanova, Virginia, Indiana, UConn and Ohio State. He completed virtual visits with all six of those programs in the spring.

Longino also took an unofficial visit to Maryland in February and saw the Terps clinch a share of the Big Ten regular season title with a win over Michigan. He’s a Philadelphia native and comes from the same AAU program as current Maryland sophomores Donta Scott and Hakim Hart. The trip was his last visit before the Covid-19 pandemic put recruiting on hold.

Longino earned an offer from Maryland in April, the same month he was named Pennsylvania’s Class 4A high school basketball player of the year. As a junior at Germantown Academy, the 6-foot-5 sharpshooter averaged 22.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 54% from the floor, 41.5% from three-point range and 80.6% from the foul line.

Although he hasn’t given many clues about which way he’s leaning, Villanova could be viewed as the favorite, especially given the timing of the announcement. The Wildcats recently missed out on five-star shooting guard Langston Love, who became the highest-rated player to commit to Baylor since 2012 last Wednesday, and Longino is one of only two other shooting guards on their board.

Maryland, meanwhile, is after several other shooting guard prospects in the 2021 class, including Jalen Warley, a Philadelphia product who’s considered one of the top-25 players in the country. The Terps are also after five-star Greenwood Laboratory School (Mo.) shooting guard Aminu Mohammed, four-star DeMatha (Md.) shooting guard Jordan Hawkins, four-star Northeast (Fla.) shooting guard Wesley Cardet Jr., among others.
