Live NCAA Super Regionals Blog: Miami at Louisville

FINAL: Louisville 8, Miami 1
Top: The Hurricanes are back out on the field for the quickest inning ever.
9th Inning:
WEATHER UPDATE: In a Weather Delay Once Again. TBD if they will finish the game today or try again in the morning.
Bottom: Brixton Lofgren is in for the likely final inning for the Canes defense.
Top: Miami has some pinch hitters on deck for the Canes, looking to get something on offense. Tanner Smith gets a standup double, but he can't be brought home as well. Miami looks like Southern Miss from last week's Regionals.
8th Inning:
Bottom: Jackson Cleveland has been so good for the Hurricanes this post season. He will likely come out again to finish out the eight.
Top: At least Max Galvin is showing up for the Hurricanes' offense today. Even though he is not brought in, he is 3-4 now with two doubles. He is trying to give this Canes team some life. The Hurricanes continue to leave runners on base. This is ten time players have been on base and have not been brought in.
7th Inning:
Bottom: The Hurricanes continue to have a good outing on the mound, and not giving anything up but one inning can kill the confidence of any team.
Top: Forbes day is done. The Hurricanes find a way to get on base, but with two outs, Jake Ogden bunts, adding to another questionable coaching decision for the Hurricanes staff.
6th Inning
Bottom: orn gets out of a jam again and throws another zero on the board.
Top: The offense has to start generating something. It has been bone dry today.
5th Inning
Louisville 8, Miami 1
Bottom: The bases are loaded, but Jake Dorn finds a way to get out of dodge. Jackson Cleveland is warming up in the pen. He still allowed a run, but the Hurricanes' offense needs to show up.
Top: The Hurricanes continue to get players in a running position, but their star players are struggling. Cuvet is swinging and missing. Ogden is struggling at the plate. The Hurricanes have done the past three innings with runners in scoring positions and still only one run. They have to come alive right now.
4th Inning:

Bottom: The number of mental errors that happened in this inning that caused the five-run explosion is insane. AJ has the stuff, but he is not playing well right now. A routine play leads to two runs for the Cards, then Ciscar gives up a three-run bomb. Arteaga gets him and enters Jake Dorn for relif.
Louisville 2, Miami 1
Top: The energy is different right now in Jim Patterson. The Hurricanes aren't shook, but they feel it. The Cane get put in a situation with loaded bases again, and this time they can bring in a run. Renzo Sac flies to bring in. Cuvet to cut the lead to one run.
3rd Inning
LOUISVILLE GOES BACK TO BACK TO STRIKE FIRST 🔥🔥🔥

Louisville 2, Miami 0
Bottom: All three outs for Max Galvin. Miami typically has one to two bad innings at pitching, and they get command right back. Now the offense needs to get going to swing the momentum.
Top: Forbes' command at the mound has fallen off a cliff, but the Hurricanes can't take advantage of a bases-loaded situation. Can't waste opportunities like that.
2nd Inning
Bottom: The Cards are making contact with the ball, but that was to be expected when seven out of the nine in the lineup are hitting over .300. The Canes defense has been solid outside of the one hit allowed from Ciscar, who gives up a hit.
Top: The Hurricanes have two early strikeouts and a pop-up to get out of the frame. Max Galvin gets a single and a stolen base. Miami is being aggressive, but now it's time for AJ Ciscar to steal the show.
1st Inning

Super Regionals, something the Miami Hurricanes have not seen since the 2016 season, and here they are ready to shake the world up and push for a brighter future for the program. This is not what many expected once the Canes lost the last six of their seven games, but when a team is hot, they stay hot. The Hurricanes will now prepare to take on the Louisville Cardinals, who are also hot.
The Canes will be throwing freshman AJ Ciscar back on the mound as the Friday starter in another massive game to try and get to the College World Series. There is still a chance that the elite arms could stifle both offenses on the mound, but things could be special for the Hurricanes this weekend.
Players To Watch:
Louisville: Eddie King Jr. heads into the NCAA Super Regional on a tear, going 14-for-26 over the last seven games with four doubles, five homers, 13 RBIs, and eight runs scored. King took home Nashville Regional Most Valuable Player honors after hitting .500 (6-for-12) with four RBIs in the three games. The senior led the Cardinals in home runs and RBIs last season and has set new career marks in both this spring with 15 and 56, respectively. The senior has been at his best against the best competition throughout his career, as 29 of his 34 home runs have come against Power Four teams, including all 14 he hit during the regular season.
Miami — Daniel Cuvet: The Miami Hurricanes star has the chance to turn into a superstar in the national stage. This weekend the ACC RBI leader can be the monster that many expect him to be. This is his first time in the postseason and was the Hattiesburg Regional MVP for his great play. He finished the regional with five hits, one homer, and five RBIs. He looks to improve on those stats in this regional.
