Former Miami Hurricane Dan Morgan Announced As Carolina Panthers New General Manager

Not only have we seen former Miami Hurricanes succeed on the field, but some have also developed successful careers off the field. Former Miami Hurricane Greg Olsen has made his mark in the broadcasting booth, but there's another Hurricane about to start another journey.
It was reported yesterday evening that former linebacker Dan Morgan has been promoted from assistant general manager to General Manager of the Carolina Panthers. He'll take control of a roster that finished with the worst record in the NFL and without their first-round pick, due to last year's trade-up to draft Alabama's Bryce Young first overall.
The #Panthers are hiring Dan Morgan as their new GM, per me, @JamesPalmerTV, and @TomPelissero. After an exhaustive search, Carolina stays in-house.

Before Morgan became a key member of NFL front offices, he was a standout linebacker for the Miami Hurricanes before being drafted 11th overall in the 2001 NFL Draft. Morgan was an All-American at Miami and earned 2000 Big East Defensive Player of the Year.
Furthermore, Morgan was the first player in history to sweep the top three defensive awards (Dick Butkus Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, and Chuck Bednarik Award) per his College Football Hall of Fame biography.

His stops in the front office have included the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills, as both organizations were winners during his time there. He joined the Carolina Panthers staff in 2021 as an assistant general manager.
The Carolina Panthers are expected to enter this offseason with around $30 million in cap space as Morgan looks to build around Young and the roster's other young pieces.
