Miami's Matt Lee Declares For NFL Draft, Mel Kiper Jr.'s 5th Ranked Center

After One Season At Miami And Second Team All-ACC Honors, Lee Declares For The 2024 NFL Draft

After much speculation as to whether or not he would return to the Hurricanes, a decision has been made.

Miami Hurricanes center Matt Lee announced via X that he forgo his eligibility and declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. Joining Miami after four season at UCF, Lee was an instant impact starter for the Hurricanes helping lead one of the best offensive lines in the country.

Lee joins fellow Hurricanes NFL Draft commits in James Williams, Kamren Kinchens (expected to declare), Javion Cohen and Leonard Taylor. With five commits already for the 2024 draft, there's still some uncertainty if Francisco Mauigoa declares or not after his standout season. Miami has not had five or more players drafted in the same class since 2019.

With Lee and Cohen both departed now from this season's offensive line, Miami will likely be invested in this transfer portal to bring in more talent on the interior of this line.

While there are some options already on the roster, expect Miami to search the portal for veteran options like they did with Lee and Cohen.

Miami still has one more game to finish off on their schedule as they'll take on Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl on December 28th.

The Hurricanes currently hold the 5th ranked recruiting class in 2024 per 247 Sports, and have yet to land a transfer yet in this cycle despite being rumored on several targets.
